The 50 1.4 has a minimum focusing distance of 1.5 feet. Macro lenses are a lot less than $1k, but still not cheap;) If you want to play around with one, I&#39;d suggest renting. I&#39;ve used borrow lenses before (http://www.borrowlenses.com/) and they are really good. I LOVE it! But I&#39;m wondering if it&#39;s really possible to use the flower(macro) option with a fixed lense. Do you recommend an extention tube instead of a $1000 macro lense for the time being? You&#39;re my camera guru!
